The 2017 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival takes place in Taichung Park and Taichung City Seaport Art Center from February 5th to 19th. Lantern Festival on January 15th in Chinese Lunar Calendar marks the end of the Chinese New Year holidays. It is also dubbed as mini new year, on which every household rejoice in the celebration with firecrackers, lanterns and tangyuan, wishing a prosperous and auspicious year. This year is the year of the rooster. Artists of sculptures, illustration and graphic design are invited to collaborate on the two main lanterns based on this year’s theme, “Blooming Phoenix”. The 12-meter female and male phoenixes can be found respectively in Taichung Park and Taichung City Seaport Art Center. Unlike events in the past, the festival this year entertains visitors in all senses. Interactive features are installed in lanterns, food stalls that sell local cuisines are in place, and themed evening events are arranged. The lanterns in the two parks are lit every night between 6 to 10 o’clock. We sincerely welcome all visitors to the 2017 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival.
