2018 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival
The 2018 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival takes place from February 24th to March 11th in Taichung Park and Taichung City Seaport Art Center. Since this year is Wu Xu, the Year of the Dog, the festival features two theme lanterns in the image of Taiwan Dogs. The male dog signifies future prospect and prosperity in Central Taiwan, and the female dog stands for guardianship and auspiciousness for Taichung, the city of flowers. The theme lanterns also embody the spirit of Taichung, a livable city built on solid foundation that moves forward fearlessly. The lanterns in the two parks will be lit every night between 6 to 10 o’clock. Local and international visitors alike are welcome to the 2018 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival.

Echoing the upcoming 2018 Taichung World Flora Exposition, the theme lantern in Taichung Park is installed on an unprecedented flower base consisting of fresh flowers and vertical gardens. In addition, it is equipped with 360-degree light and sound technology serving as the foil for the majestic male dog. The unique lantern festival experience is also infused with floral scents which not only adds vitality to the theme lantern but also  embodies the concept of coexistence with nature.

The theme lantern in Taichung City Seaport Art Center comes in a geometric design collaborated with light and sound effect as well. The static lantern installation brilliantly captures the dynamic scene of a mother dog surrounded by puppies. As the flower base emits fragrances, visitors can immerse in the refreshing floral scents while appreciating the affable presentation of the theme lantern.
