|Origin
The Japanese YOSAKOI-style dance derived from the night festival that took place during Obon in Kochi. It then gradually spread throughout Japan as a type of festival. Folk music and naruko clappers are the most iconic elements of YOSAKOI. The costumes, music and dance are all symbolic of local cultural preservation as well.
In honor of YOSAKOI spirit, top Japanese YOSAKOI teams, a variety of Taiwanese dance crews, students of performing arts and dance clubs are all invited to participate in the joyous festival. With dancing performances showcasing distinct cultural features, Taichung City is turned into a massive stage that welcomes citizens and visitors to enjoy a visual feast of vigorous performances. The festival lasts four days consisting of a creative market, a series of shows and performances. Don’t miss out on the fun!
