Traditionally, Hakka people make rice cakes known as “Xin Ding Ban” and offer them as an appreciative gesture to local deities, praying for blessing and abundant offspring. The festival features various types of rice cakes, as well as traditional activities like moon blocks casting, a divination method praying for newborns, good grades, or other wishes, and firework throwing at a paper-mache castle.
