Jiguang Street close by Taichung Railway Station was the most prosperous district in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. Stores selling daily commodities used to gather here. It is now a modern shopping district. In conjunction with the nearby Luchuan West Street, Ziyou Street shopping district and the electronics street, the area is a pedestrian zone that offers a wide variety of merchandise ranging from computer components to sun cakes and Nagasaki cakes. In addition to the most renowned Jiguang Fried Chicken, meat and egg sandwich, a local breakfast essential, the exotic Vietnamese baguette, lamb soup, Thai snacks and Indonesian cuisine are also some highly recommended dishes.
