It is the main arena of sports competitions in Taichung City. Equipped with massive electronic billboards and recording systems, the circular arena with 25,000 seats is the ideal venue for large-scale gatherings and sports games. The venue also frequently accommodates big events in Taichung like the new year countdown party. The mosaic wall painting on the facade of the sports center is completed in 1961 by the renowned Taiwanese artist, Prof. Yen Shuilong. The semi-abstract illustration of the athletes’ motions is a true masterpiece of beauty and strength. Facilities of the sports center includes a track and field stadium, baseball stadium, tennis court and other sports venue open for public use. Visitors are advised to plan for a half-day trip as it is nearby Yizhong shopping district and Taichung Broadcasting Bureau.
