The 637.39-meter Daan River Steel Bridge is one of the three remaining steel beam bridges in Taiwan. It was once a priority pass for the Japanese government’s commodity transport. It was also a bridge that connected the North and the South. With such beauty and strength demonstrated in the structural design of the bridge, the precious transportation masterpiece especially looks magnificent from afar. For better efficiency, the railway was rerouted in 1998. Hence, the most distinctive cross-island railway was no longer in use. Railway sections north of Houli Station remained, while sections south of Houli were suspended. Another gorgeous steel beam bridge, Dajia River Steel Bridge is now a biking path. Although it is no longer in use, many visitors still come to see the structural beauty of Daan River Steel Bridge. Please watch your steps when enjoying the scenery.
