Yuanpao Temple

The main deity of Yuanpao Temple, known as the Old Residence of Family Lai, is the Baosheng Dadi Deity (literally refers to the Deity of Medicine) Wu Tao. Baosheng Emperor has a great compassion and saved countless lives with exceptional medical skills. During the Qing Qianlong period, Taiwan was a malarial region. The ancestors of Family Lai who crossed over Taiwan Straight for land reclamation respectfully invited Baosheng Dadi deity statue at Xintian Temple in Pinghe County of Fujian Province to Taiwan to pray for a successful reclamation process. With a history of more than 200 years, Yuanbao Tample is a religious center in Central Taiwan with an enormous number of believers. In the meantime, it also carries the responsibilities of cultural inheritance, education and social services. The temple has a colorful and splendid appearance with finely carved architectural components and has preserves some specially preserved relics. It also provides some religious services, such as lighting lamps for blessing and seeking solace. With a history of over 200 years, Yuanpao Temple has become a religious center in Central Taiwan with a vast number of devoted followers. It not only serves as a center for spiritual practices but also upholds the responsibilities of cultural preservation, education, and community services. The temple exhibits intricate architectural details with finely carved components and preserves valuable relics. Additionally, it offers various religious services, including lighting lamps for blessings and seeking solace, among others.
