The Taichung Aquarium is curated around the theme “From Taichung’s Rivers to the World’s Oceans,” integrating education, conservation, and tourism. The aquarium uses advanced exhibition concepts, featuring open-style tanks that break away from the limitations of traditional closed aquariums, allowing visitors to observe marine life more clearly. The aquarium includes six major themed areas: the Taichung River Exhibition Area, designed in a lotus shape; the Indoor Wetland Tidal Experience Zone, simulating natural ecosystems; and Taiwan’s first 360-degree fully transparent Real-and-Virtual Shark Display Tank. In addition, the Penguin Viewing Area offers a unique perspective from below, allowing visitors to watch penguins swimming overhead. The Jellyfish Zone features a large, diverse collection of jellyfish, while the Coral Zone showcases vibrant underwater biodiversity. Overall, each area serves both environmental education and recreational purposes.
