Liuyun Church was built in 1915 after a blueprint of the church of England provided by Rev.Campbell N. Moody. The construction was completed in October 1916, so the church is now a historic architecture over 100 years old. The church is a classic model of a Christian church in early times known as a basilica. The Roman and Gothic style architecture boasts excellent natural lighting. What makes Liuyun Church special is the infusion of Han Chinese culture in parts of the architectural details like the traditional Chinese design of turtle and dragon shaped rain gutters. As the old church could no longer accommodate the increasing number of followers in the post WWII period, a new church was built to the south of the original church. In 1998, a Sunday classroom and a priests’ dormitory were built consecutively.
